GENERAL INFORMATION

The Children's Room

The Children's Room at the South Burlington Community Library is a popular place for both parents and children to spend time. The following resources are available:

  • AWE Early Literacy Station
  • Card catalog computer
  • Reading lists
  • Materials that can be checked out:
  • Picture books
  • Easy readers
  • Juvenile fiction
  • Board books for babies
  • Big Books
  • Books-on-CD
  • DVDs (one week check-out period)
  • Juvenile non-fiction (located near the Adult non-fiction area)

    PARENTING COLLECTION
    The parenting collection is located right across from the entrance to the Children's Room and has a wide variety of books useful for parents of babies to teens.
     

    PROGRAMS FOR KIDS
    Programs

    The South Burlington Community Library offers a variety of programs for children of all ages and their parents.

    Our Children's Librarian leads lively and entertaining story times several times a week in the Children's Room for children ranging in age from babies to six years old. Story hours include appropriate stories, songs, finger plays and a simple craft for the age group.

    Our Children's Librarian and her talented volunteer helpers conduct story times and programs outside of the library too. They visit the area pre-schools, and elementary schools, go to Early Essential Education every month, and go to special events like the Fire Station Open House and National.
