Since 1984,
the Friends of the South Burlington Community Library have
been active in revitalizing library programs, library
materials and the library space through their membership
contributions, volunteer work and fundraising projects.
The Friends
are concerned citizens who believe a dynamic library is the
cornerstone to an educated, caring, and stimulating
community environment.
Through
membership dues, donations, and fundraising efforts the
Friends Organization makes significant contributions to
enhance the Community Library. The Friends have sponsored the
Annual Baby Brunch, the Lifelong Learning Music Series, the
Sunday Afternoon Concert Series, and a variety of other
programs for children and adults. The Friends donate needed
library equipment and materials, supply refreshments for
library programs, contribute to staff enrichment
opportunities, and they beautify the Library with year-round
and seasonal plants.

One hundred percent of all donations made to the Friends of the Library are used for library improvements, library programs, library materials and library advocacy. If you are interested in donating to the Friends of the Library you may specify what you would like your donation to be used to support. Go to the wish list for suggestions of library needs.
In the past year, the Friends Organization supported the Library in donations of over $5000. With your support, we are able to provide the community with so many additional services and programs. In these challenging economic times, this becomes even more important. While other areas are seeing a decline in business due to the economic downturn, the Library is quite the opposite. We have seen an increase in new library patron registrations, an increase in the number of items that we circulate, and last year, we had over 10,000 people attend free library programs. Many of these programs were programs supported entirely by the Friends of the Library for children, teens, adults and seniors.
We need your help and there are so many ways that Friends can support the Library. We need our Friends to help organize book donations, help at book sales, bake for program refreshments, take part in community advocacy, and assist with program planning and special events such as the Annual Baby Brunch and the Friends of the Library Tea.
